God's Promises
Our sermon text this morning is from Hebrews 6:13-20, this message encourages believers to find certainty in God’s promises by looking at the example of Abraham’s patient endurance. Just as a confirmation number settles the mind after booking a reservation, God’s oath and unchangeable character provide a "sure and steadfast anchor" that prevents us from spiraling during seasons of waiting or suffering. The author of Hebrews explains that God’s promise is doubly secure because He swore by Himself, binding His word to His own perfect character, making it impossible for Him to lie. Ultimately, this hope is anchored in Jesus, our forerunner who has entered the "inner place behind the curtain" to secure our access to God’s presence forever. Therefore, Christians are called to persevere and hold fast, trusting that the work Jesus is doing on our behalf makes our future legacy absolutely certain.
