Sermon Discussion Questions for Your Life Groups
A quick note from Pastor Assad about this weekend.
I remember wanting to intern in the Youth Ministry at my first church in Palm Desert, California. It was a growing church with a great youth ministry and I was a brand new Christian. I remember asking if there was any way I could be part of the staff, and they told me "we would love for you to work with us, but we don't have the money to hire you". I went home and cried. I thought I had heard God's voice to pursue vocational ministry. I was convinced God had called me. So I went back and told the ministry staff I would work for free. They held me to every staff standard and I worked three other jobs to make up the financial loss. It was a brutal and clarifying time for me. If I learned anything, I learned how to hear God's voice.
How do you know you have heard the voice of God? This is definitely one of the more challenging questions to answer. Though people experience the voice of God differently, I love that there is some clarity in the way Jesus calls his disciples. I cannot wait to study it this week in John 1:35-51.
