Failure doesn’t have to be Final.

In Judges, the Israelites turn away from God and face the consequences. God raises judges in cycles of rebellion, repentance, and restoration.

  1. How did you picture Samson’s physical appearance before the teaching? Why did you have that opinion? Can you see him as a small, skinny, longhaired man? How would that picture influence your understanding of his life and purpose?
  2. How does the Holy Spirit usually show His strength/power in your life? Can you think of an example of when He empowered you to do something unusual for the Lord? How did it make you feel when it happened?
  3. Have you ever gone through a period of spiritual “numbness” when you didn’t sense the Spirit’s presence and power? What were the circumstances? What was happening in your heart at that time? How did it impact you?
  4. Has God ever disciplined you and used a failure in your life to teach you a significant spiritual lesson? What was it? Can you share that lesson with others?
  5. What does the challenge of “finishing strong” look like practically in your life? Do you sense the Holy Spirit wanting you to make some changes in your heart? In your behavior? In your attitudes and values?
