Escondido is a diverse city.
Escondido sits just 30 miles north of San Diego and is uniquely located 15 miles east the Pacific Ocean as part of North County San Diego. It’s prime location makes it home for hikers and surfers alike, just as much as it makes it the place to be for affordable family-living and lake fishing. And to top it off: it’s one of San Diego’s most traveled cities with the San Diego Zoo Safari Park located just 10 minutes off the highway.
The city is home to a wide variety of people from many different backgrounds. It’s diversity lends itself to a spectacular array of cuisine from elaborate steak, sushi and mexican fusion to hole in the wall specialties and local favorites like The Burger Bench, Stone Brewing, Craft and Taco Lounge.

Escondido is a forward-thinking.
Escondido has a rich history in the arts, centered around the Civic Center and the California Center for the Arts. Much art and music talent has emerged from and attracted to Escondido. This includes famous bands such as Dogwood, musicians such as Eric Clapton, Movie actors Bill Murray and television actress Ashley Tesoro featured in Saved by The Bell, several military Captains and Commanders and even Social Media founders like Tom Anderson the creator of Myspace.
As the city has grown and changed over the years, so has the emphasis on it’s downtown main street. For many years Escondido was a stopping point for travelers along the 395 highway which eventually became the interstate highway 15. It’s main street titled “Grand Avenue” has undergone several seasons of change ranging from a quiet street where textiles were produced for surrounding cities to it’s burgeoning restaurant and arts industry of late.
