So... someone was raised from the dead?
Can you imagine someone describing you that way? To come back to life... what would that be like? To be raised from the dead is to be resurrected and resurrection power points to a living hope. These are the things that run through my mind when it comes to the story of Lazarus being raised from the dead. This week, we will take a look at John 11. It is fantastic and I look forward to sharing it with you.
Read John 11
- v. 1-4 In what way can sickness be for the glory of God?
- v. 8-16 This section points to a very real danger to Jesus and his disciples. Discuss the times when danger/risk is worthwhile. Do you think Thomas was expressing faith in verse 16? Explain.
- v. 21-27 In this portion is Martha expressing her faith in Jesus? What about Mary in verse 32?
- v. 33-35 Explain the response of Jesus in this section.
- v. 43, 44 Discuss this miracle. How does this compare to other miracles Jesus performed?
- v. 45, 46 Notice the various reactions to this miracle. Do you find these reactions understandable? How would people in our day respond? Does this encourage you or discourage you to share the gospel of a risen Savior?
