Let's talk about the Book of Esther
In Esther, God providentially uses two exiled Israelites to rescue His people from certain doom, without any explicit mention of God or His activity.
Sermon Discussion
- How have you seen God at work behind the scenes in your life? Can you think of 1 example when He orchestrated something that when it occurred, whispered to you, “I’m here?”
- As you reflect on the Main Lesson of Esther, do you have any questions for God about how He “called the shots” in your personal life? What might they be? Has it been easy or difficult to accept the pathway He’s called you to walk?
- Ever been through a time when it seems like God hasn’t been in control? What were the circumstances? How did it impact you spiritually? Were you able to talk to God about it and “sit in your pain” for a while? How did people in the Church react to your struggle?
- Is there a step of faith He’s asking you to take right now? How are you doing with it? Any resistance to it?
- How can the people in your small group help? What would be one prayer request that expresses your own heart’s condition while thinking about taking that step?
- How might the truth of God’s providence help you face the joys and challenges of this week?
- Sit quietly for a few moments and ask the Holy Spirit, “What’s the most important truth You have for me from the life of Esther?”
