Protect Me, Oh God
A note from Pastor Assad Saif about this week's sermon:
What is interesting to me about the Psalms, is how they are different. There are, Psalms of lament, thanksgiving, enthronement, pilgrimage, royal declaration, wisdom, and imprecatory. I like the word “imprecatory” however I tend to forget what it means. I just looked it up again and it means “to invoke God’s judgement and wrath against enemies”. Wow!
No imprecatory Psalms this week. This week we will be looking at Psalm 5. If you want to get a head start, take a look, pray and meditate on it, and I will show up ready to share what God has given us to learn this week.

Sermon Discussion
- If you feel up to sharing, talk about a time when have you experienced the feeling of being threatened, or vulnerable, or alone?
- Read Psalm 5:1-3, what are some of the things standing out to you? Where do you see the theme of God listening?
- Read Psalm 5:4-6, how do you see the point of “God hating evil”?
- How do we join God in hating evil but also, loving people?
- Read Psalm 5:7-8, what does God offer those who love him?
- Read Psalm 5:9-10, what do you learn about the rebellious? How do you protect yourself from becoming rebellious?
- Read Psalm 5:11-13, do you see God as your refuge? How have you experienced God as a refuge?
