Gospel of John 20, Part 2

The Gospel of John

Sermon Outline | Group Questions

Light and dark, truth and lies, good and evil. While the world often feels like it’s filled with shades of gray, we all know that there are ways of living in the world that fill us with hope and joy, and there are ways of being that cause regret and despair. Join us in season three of our teaching series from the Gospel of John, Light in the Darkness, as we follow Jesus as he guides us on the path of life.

The Gospel of John

Bible Text: John 20:19-23

From Pastor Assad Saif

Fear Can Be Crippling

When I was teaching my kids to swim, I remember them flailing around in the pool in a state of panic. Sure it didn't help that I was teasing them and giving them a hard time. However, when it came down to it, I had to ask them "Will you trust me?" Then I would have them float on their back, and I would teach them to lie still and try to keep their face toward the sky. Then I would have them lower their head a little into the water so their ears were under water. Then I held them still, and taught them to relax and trust themselves. Each of them learned how to find confidence in the water by trusting my words, relaxing in my arms, and then following my instructions.

This week we will be looking at John 20:19-23. This is the evening after the resurrection of Jesus. The disciples do not know what is about to happen... They had to trust Jesus. I am looking forward to sharing more with you this weekend!
