The Gospel of John

Sermon Outline | Group Questions

Light and dark, truth and lies, good and evil. While the world often feels like it’s filled with shades of gray, we all know that there are ways of living in the world that fill us with hope and joy, and there are ways of being that cause regret and despair. Join us in season three of our teaching series from the Gospel of John, Light in the Darkness, as we follow Jesus as he guides us on the path of life.

The Gospel of John

Bible Text: John 17

From Pastor Assad Saif

How can you be in, but not of the world?

In 2017 and 2018 I visited Lebanon on a trip to learn from and encourage believers following Jesus by serving refugees in deep need. I remember feeling incredible jet lag and disorientation as we made our way through the villages to the churches that had been around for hundreds of years. I remember sitting with Pastors who were serving and sharing their stories of faith in God's miraculous movement. And when I was ready to leave, I remember them holding my hand, crying, and praying for God to encourage me, Orchard Church, and the American Church. It brought me to tears, and filled my soul with hope.

There is something amazing about the heart of Jesus and his followers praying for each other with a profound confidence and faith in God. This week we will take a look at the end of Jesus High Priestly Prayer in John 17. I know it will be an encouragement to you.
