Light and dark, truth and lies, good and evil. While the world often feels like it’s filled with shades of gray, we all know that there are ways of living in the world that fill us with hope and joy, and there are ways of being that cause regret and despair. Join us in season three of our teaching series from the Gospel of John, Light in the Darkness, as we follow Jesus as he guides us on the path of life.
Light in the Darkness: Are you connected to Jesus?
Bible Text: John 15:1-17 | Pastor, Assad Saif
One of Jesus' clear teachings is that his followers are supposed to be connected to him, just as a branch is connected to a tree. Jesus uses the word "abide" and in that word, we are supposed to interpret that the Spirit Filled Life (John 14) is dependent on "abiding" in him. But how? Sometimes when Jesus says things like, "Remain in me", I ask myself "How do I do that?"
There are a variety of ways to "remain" in Jesus. There are simple ways of "abiding" such as reading your Bible so you know the Word of God, and praying so you are communicating with God regularly. Then, there are more complex ways, such as, trusting God by living a life of attentiveness to the Spirit. This week, as we continue our study of the Gospel of John, we will take a look at Jesus' words in John 15:1-17.
