SONG TITLE: GRAVES INTO GARDENS

Verse 1
I searched the world but it couldn’t fill me
Man’s empty praise and treasures that fade
Are never enough
Then You came along and put me back together
And every desire is now satisfied here in Your love

Chorus
Oh there’s nothing better than You
There’s nothing better than You
Lord there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You

Verse 2
I’m not afraid to show You my weakness
My failures and flaws
Lord You’ve seen them all
And You still call me friend
‘Cause the God of the mountain
Is the God of the valley
And there’s not a place
Your mercy and grace won’t find me again

Bridge
You turn mourning to dancing
You give beauty for ashes
You turn shame into glory
You’re the only one who can

You turn graves into gardens
You turn bones into armies
You turn seas into highways
You’re the only one who can

SERMON NOTES with SCRIPTURE

SERMON TITLE: My Deliverer

TEACHER:  Dr. Assad Saif

PASSAGE: Psalm 6

Sometimes the way we view our fathers or the absence of our fathers is how we view God.

Psalm 6:1 (NIV)

1 LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger
or discipline me in your wrath.

The Problem: Sometimes we can God as an angry father. (Psalm 6:1)

__________

Psalm 6:2-3 (NIV)

2 Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint;
heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony.
3 My soul is in deep anguish.
How long, LORD, how long?

Observation: Your soul needs care. (vv.2-3)

Can you care for your own soul? Or do you expect others to do that?

__________

Psalm 6:4-7 (NIV)

4 Turn, LORD, and deliver me;
save me because of your unfailing love.
5 Among the dead no one proclaims your name.
Who praises you from the grave?
6 I am worn out from my groaning.
All night long I flood my bed with weeping
and drench my couch with tears.
7 My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
they fail because of all my foes.

Main Point: God is our deliverer. (vv. 4-7)

God does the saving… you don’t do that.
You live like you have been saved, that is your job.
God delivers and we walk in this world as ones who have been delivered.

__________

Psalm 6:8 (NIV)

8 Away from me, all you who do evil,
for the LORD has heard my weeping.

Observation: He is listening. (v. 8)

Question: Are you asking God to deliver you;
to rescue your soul when you are weary;
to save you from your circumstances?

__________

Psalm 6:9-10 (NIV)

9 The LORD has heard my cry for mercy;
the LORD accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish;
they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.

The Challenge: Will you trust him? (vv. 9-10)

Hard Questions to ask yourself: Will I trust the lord? Do I love the lord? Do I trust the lord? Will I trust God in good times and bad?
