Take Action and Evangelize

Evangelism Matters to Jesus

Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem.

He knew what was waiting for Him there. The betrayal. The trial. The cross. He was carrying the full weight of what it would mean to save the world — and He still stopped. In a crowd, in the middle of a city, on the way to everything — He stopped for one man.

That's who Jesus is. And that's the question He's been asking through every lesson of this course:

Who is your one?

Your Already Know the Answer

You don't have to search very hard. There's probably a face that comes to mind when you read that question. Maybe it's been coming to mind the whole time you've been going through this course.

  • A coworker who seems like they're barely holding it together.
  • A neighbor you've waved at a hundred times but never really talked to.
  • A family member who walked away from faith and you've been afraid to bring it up.
  • A friend who makes jokes about church, but you've seen something underneath the jokes.
  • Someone who makes other people in your circle a little uncomfortable — the way Zacchaeus made the crowd uncomfortable.

That person. That's probably your one.

Move toward your one

Step 1: Pray for them by name. Every day.

Don't start with a conversation. Start with prayer. Commit to praying for this one person every single day for the next month. Ask God to soften their heart. Ask God to open a door. Ask God to give you the courage to walk through it when He does.

Step 2: Show up in their life.

Invest real time with them. Grab coffee. Text them when something reminds you of them. Ask questions and actually listen to the answers. Remember what they told you last time. Presence before proclamation — let them feel like they matter to you before you ever bring up Jesus.

Step 3: Watch for the moment.

You'll feel it. A hard season they mention. A question they ask. A moment when the guard comes down. That's often where the door opens. Don't talk yourself out of it. Share what God has done for you. Pull out the 3 Circles if it helps. Just step through the door.

Step 4: Invite them.

To church. To coffee. To a conversation. Invite them in. A personal invitation from someone who genuinely cares is still one of the most powerful things in the world. Don't underestimate it.

"As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you." — John 20:21

The same love that sent Jesus into the world. The same mission. Now in us. Through us. Toward our one.

you don't have to be perfect

You don't need to be eloquent. You don't need to have a theology degree. You don't need to have it all figured out before you start. You just need to say yes — yes to being the person in someone's life who notices them, prays for them, loves them without an agenda, and when the moment comes, points them toward Jesus.

That's it. That's the whole thing.

A sending prayer for evangelism

Father, thank You that You sought me when I wasn't looking for You. You stopped for me. You called me by name. You moved toward me before I ever moved toward You. Now, with that same love living in me, send me. Open my eyes to the one person You've already placed in front of me. Give me courage when the moment comes, wisdom to know how, and a love that doesn't give up even when it gets awkward. May my one encounter You because I was willing to show up. Amen.

Your commitment

  1. Name them. Not out loud if you're not ready — just in your heart. One person. This month.
  2. Pray for them. Show up in their life. Look for the moment. Invite them in.
  3. That's how the Kingdom grows. One person at a time.

What happens when your one says, "YES!"

When someone takes a step toward faith, here is what to encourage them to do next:

Prayer

Encourage them to talk to God every day. Not fancy words. Just honest conversation. God can handle it.

Church

Bring them to Orchard. Introduce them to people. Help them feel at home. The local church is God's family, and everyone needs a family.

Bible

Suggest they start with the Gospel of John. It's the most personal, most story-driven account of Jesus. A great place to begin.

Share

Remind them that now they have a story too. And someone in their world needs to hear it.

The cycle continues. It always has.
