Orchard Community Church

With so many churches in Escondido, why plant another one?

Though Escondido has many churches and many people attend them, there are still more than 100,000 people in our city that do not attend any church or know they can find hope in Jesus Christ.

Studies reveal church planting to be one of the most effective ways to reach such people with the Gospel of Christ.  It is reported that 60 to 80 percent of people in new congregations were not previously active in any local church.  People that have never attended a church are many times more attracted to attend new churches rather than a church that is older where it seems everyone already knows one other.

Escondido is more than 100 years old and has seen considerable change over the years.  My desire is to start a church to break through the barriers and meet the needs that face this current generation.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” - John 1:5

Jesus is that light! The Bible teaches that Jesus asks all those who follow Him to share this message that, though the world is dark and despairing, we can find light and hope in Him. (John 1:1-18)

It took some time to pray and figure out for sure that God was calling my family into this journey. Over the past two years God has made it clear to me, my family, and the Emanuel Faith Community Church (EFCC) pastors and elders that God is indeed calling my wife, Summer, and I to plant this church. He has also confirmed that now is the time. The Lord has placed a deep calling in my heart to reach people in this new mission field.

That is why we are planting a church.

EFCC has a history of seeking to reach un-churched people by planting churches and has commissioned us to do so in northeast Escondido. This new church will be uniquely designed to reach those who would likely not attend EFCC.

I pray that God will use the Orchard to bring many people from the dark places into the light, from lost to found, from despairing to full of hope.

Thanks for taking the time to learn about this new church.

For the increase of the Kingdom of God,

Assad Saif
