SUMMER AT THE ORCHARD
Summer has come and gone and it was a whirlwind of activity at Orchard Church. In June and July our Adventure Camp with its theme of “Walk this Way” took place on Sunday mornings for six weeks. Children from first to fifth grades gained skills in woodworking, cooking, sports and sewing. Of course the most important part of the program was helping them learn to walk God’s way.
In July David Cortez led the church in a special worship evening as we praised the Lord together for all He has done for us this year. At another much appreciated event, Orchard’s men enjoyed a yummy breakfast and time of fellowship at the Shapiro’s.
Catalina Island was the setting for our middle-schoolers’ summer camp in August. Hiking, swimming, games, fishing, singing and snorkeling were just part of the activities. The main thrust of the camp was to help the campers develop a relationship with Christ that will give their lives a foundation of trust in his love and care.
We finished off the summer with a bang as we did a backpack event. Partnering with Emmanuel Faith Community Church we filled 800 backpacks with supplies and gave them out to students at Glen View Elementary School and the Bridge, EFCC’s after-school tutoring center.
Now we are looking with anticipation to all the Lord has for Orchard Church in this last quarter of 2016.
