The Christmas season is full of many kinds of blessings!
At the Orchard we celebrated the beginning of the Christmas season by baptizing two men – two men who had come to know Jesus as their Savior at the Orchard in the past 10 months. This year has been an amazing journey of seeing lives changed and people become part of God’s family. And we’re just getting started.
With a total of seven people baptized this year, this truly is the beginning of what we hope to be a great ministry to the people in North East Escondido. There are many churches in Escondido but none with the express purpose of reaching the North East part of town. This is an area where many elementary, junior high and high school students call home and day after day, without bus transportation, walk (in many cases) almost a mile to and from school. After school, many of the high school students in the area watch their younger siblings until a parent comes home from work.
Our vision at OCC is to invite people to find hope and experience love through faith in Christ. One of the ways we hope to do this is by reaching the families in our area. We want to be a church that loves our community by loving our neighbors and striving to develop real relationships one by one with people.
Friends, our hope is to be a church made up of people who are whole heartedly trusting Jesus. This means reaching out to those in need of a relationship with Jesus and teaching new followers of Christ foundational truths of what it means to be part of Christ’s body.
Christmas is a time marked by joy, love, generosity, kindness and … hope. The joy comes from knowing our security in Christ. The love comes from God whose love exceeds our understanding. The generosity we find in God our Father who gave His son. The kindness we see in the way Jesus laid down His life. The hope is in the power of the Spirit of the Lord at work in His people. At OCC our hope is for the Lord to continue to provide for our ministry in a variety of ways. My encouragement to you is to consider how you can 1) pray 2) give and 3) serve this year at OCC.
We have a great ministry ahead of us, and the Lord knows we need your help to get us there. If there is one thing I’ve learned in the past few months of doing ministry at OCC it is that we are dependent on the Lord to move in the hearts of His people to accomplish great and powerful acts of faith. Will you join us?
