Orchard Community Church
New International Version (NIV)
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I am thankful to God for all of your prayers. I had a chance to walk with a retired pastor the other day when I experienced a great eye-opening moment. It was 6:00 a.m., and we were walking down a steep hill and I was carrying on about how we almost have 100 people, how we just received a donation of seven computers and monitors, and that I felt we were doing….ok.
He stopped the conversation quickly and gently reminded me that many churches around the country close their doors every day. Many more churches find it difficult to keep their doors open and only 30% of church plants survive longer than four years and typically have less than 100 people attending them. The big “aha” moment for me was when he said, “Planting a successful church really is a miracle of God.”
I was reminded that God is in control, and Orchard Community Church is a church that prays and is being prayed for. Thank you for partnering with us to see Northeast Escondido changed by the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We have 82 people who have committed to be part of our core team.
We have 10 others (different than core team) who have committed to be part of our S.W.A.T. team.
I have a verbal confirmation to use the facilities at Orange Glen High School and am currently awaiting a contract.
We are planning a soft launch (little to no marketing) on January 5th, 2014 (two months away).
This will be a time for us to figure out our systems, how to setup/tear down each week as well as what ministry ideas work best or are the most practical.
The grand opening, scheduled for Easter, 2014, will be focused on trying to reach as many people as possible using resources and evangelism strategies to get the word out about our new church plant.
A full first draft of our budget has been completed and is being reviewed.
I have completed a first draft of my 2014 preaching calendar.
We currently have 500+ people on our prayer team, and I would like to see 1000 people praying for us regularly before we launch in January.
