Happy Father's Day!

I've been thinking about tomorrow's message for some time.  As a dad Father's day is an important day in the year for me.  It's a time for evaluation and, of course, celebration!

I don't know how you celebrate but I do know there are lots of different family systems among us. Having grown up with my parents divorced, Father's day meant spending the day with my dad at his work.  I absolutely loved being around him and to this day still do.

Tomorrow we'll take a look at a Father in the bible and learn from some of the ways he followed God.

How can we walk with God?

We know that God has created us with eternity set in our heart as stated in Ecclesiastes 3:11.  That means that we were designed to commune or walk with God.  Only how do you do that?  How do you worship and walk faithfully with God?  In tomorrow's sermon I hope to teach you just that.

Tomorrow will be a great day!

Tomorrow we celebrate a time of Communion.  Whether you attend the Orchard every Sunday or haven't been a while, Communion Sunday is a great time to be at Church with family and friends.

For the past few weeks we have been studying "Life in God's Family".  Tomorrow we will talk about how we need God's Spirit to truly make "Life in God's Family" possible.  Please join us as we search the Scripture and open our hearts and minds to know and embrace God.

God Bless You!
Assad

Purpose in life, "the" game changer...

When we don't know what our divine purpose in life is, we end up living adrift and aimless.  This is a sad reality and, one many people face daily.  Life in God's family gives us profound purpose.  It's one of the major blessings of being a child of God.  That being said, it is important that we not forget to first worship Jesus... That is where things get tricky.  You see sometimes we can worship the gift over the Giver of gifts.

Tomorrow we will take a look at what the bible says about purpose and how Jesus challenges the disciples to step into a Gospel driven life.

Do you know what you need to know about marriage?

When I got married I was 20 years old.... That's another story for a different day. Haha!  Let's just say that I didn't know what the Bible said about marriage. I know God love me because He blessed me with an amazing woman, however, I needed to learn what the Bible taught on this issue.

If you are single, interested in someone to court currently married this sermon is for you.  Tomorrow we will share what the Bible says on issues of marriage and how God thinks about it.

God Bless You,
Assad

Mother's Day is an awesome day to celebrate!

There are many reasons to celebrate throughout the year.  Mother's day holds a special day in many of our hearts because of how selfless Mom's can be.  If there is one things I've learned it is that if a mom has many children or no children at all, she has given much to care for and love children.  The Gospel is relevant to this in that we see the loving hand of God displayed in the selfless work of Christ on the cross.

Tomorrow we will take a look at what the bible says about parenting.  Our new series is titled Life in God's Family and we kick it off on Mother's Day.  My hope over the next few weeks is to take you on a journey of what it means to live in God's family.  I pray you will be both encouraged and challenged as we study Life in God's Family.  Start tomorrow by celebrating Mother's Day!

Have you ever been stuck feeling sorrow and despair?

I have...
Life can be so hard at times.  We can walk around wounded and not being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Tomorrow we will talk about how to find hope when all seems lost.  Our God is faithful and His Gospel is good!  I can't wait to share.

Tomorrow we will also be taking communion for the first time as an independent church!  What an amazing time it will be for us.  I'll be introducing our new Elders and I'm asking you to join me in celebrating this time at one of our two services.

Are you ready for tomorrow?
Tomorrow morning we will be taking a look at the story of Moses and how God Invites him on an amazing journey. God calls Moses into something bigger than himself and through it Moses learns about a guy that saves, rescues and empowers.

The same is true for the Orchard Community Church.  Tomorrow afternoon we will be "launched" or commissioned as an independent church.  This is very exciting!  We set out to be a healthy church that invites people to find hope and experience love through faith in Christ.  We have been and will continue to do that.  Tomorrow we celebrate at our sending Church this historic moment.

I hope to see you at church in the morning and for our celebration at Emmanuel Faith tomorrow afternoon at 4:30pm.

Remember God is working in and though us.  He invites us to trust and obey Him.  What an amazing God we have!

God Bless You,
Assad Saif

OCC Independence & Laying On of Hands
I've just recently been informed that the EFCC Elder Board has voted to move OCC towards Independence by way of the Laing on of Hands by the EFCC Elders upon the OCC Elders.

This is exciting and only part of the process of our independence at OCC.
There are two major parts to this.
1) Spiritual Authority & Leadership
2) Legal & Business Administration

OCC will be commissioned publicly at the EFCC Annual Meeting on Sunday 4/30.  We will continue to work with EFCC as we still have Legal and Business aspects to make sure happen.  The target date for OCC's Legal and Business independence will be somewhere between June 1st and September 1st.  The reason for that is it takes time to iron out all of the aspects required to be a legal corporation.

We will need to announce this to our congregation THIS Sunday.  I've invited both Dave Hall & Werner Jacobsen to share about this at OCC's service this Sunday.  They will take five minutes or so to share.

I will need all of your help to get the word out.  We will want to try and get as many people as possible over to the EFCC Annual Meeting so that we can show EFCC folks how 65 adults and kids became 150 adults and kids.  This is very exciting.

Do you know how to pray boldly?

A living hope is found when normal people pray boldly.  It is a critical part of our journey with Jesus.  You and I both go through life and need God's help. Sometimes we have a hard time seeing God at work and many times... we simply don't ask God for the help we need.
Tomorrow we are going to look at a story in the Bible that challenges and teaches us on the topic of "Bold Prayer".  This will be an encouraging message and I pray you experience that.
Remember we will be in our normal meeting place at the Performing Arts Center (P.A.C.) at Orange Glen High School.  I look forward to seeing you there.
God Bless You,
Assad Saif

This week's email bulletin!

Where does your hope come from?

I don't know about you but hope is something that I've had to learn how to have, keep and share.  I didn't grow up in a Christian home so hope was foreign to me.  When I found Jesus I was filled with hope and began to believe I could do anything God wanted me to.  In this new series we will learn about the living hope we have in Christ and how to have, keep and share it.

Tomorrow we celebrate communion and I look forward to seeing you!  Communion is a great reminder of the price paid for our hope and new life in Christ.  It's an opportunity for repentance, renewal and increased unity in the church.  Join us tomorrow as we celebrate Jesus!

Easter at the Orchard is going to be a big day for us.  So much so that we will need more volunteers than we usually have.  If you can help us be an usher, greeter or with hospitality or children we'd love to have you.  Please just write "volunteer" on your response card or reply to this email.  I'm praying we reach this city with the hope we have in Christ Jesus.

God Bless You,
Assad Saif

When is the last time you witnessed something heroic?

We don't always see or appreciate the most heroic acts... just the ones we can see or have heard of.  There are so many stories in the bible many of us don't know just because we haven't read them yet or heard of.  My hope over the next few weeks is to share with you some of the stories of the Ancient Heroes of our faith.  Tomorrow we will learn a little bit about Elijah and what great steps of faith he took.

Everything has a cost...
This next Sunday as part of our rooted at the Orchard series we are going over the topic of "cost".  The question driving the sermon this week is "what is the price for discipleship?"  Jesus answers the question very clearly.  I hope you'll be encouraged by it... and challenged.

In 2017 I've started an extra podcast that I put out on Mondays.  This podcast is part of our current podcast.  In it I have a guest and I discuss different topics of faith and how they intersect with our real lives.  I'd love for you to check it out!  Click here.
