Assad Saif is the Pastor of Orchard Community Church. Assad has been married to Summer since 2001 and they have two sons and two daughters: Korban (11), Kaleb (10), Kaylen (9) and Kristine (6).  They met in 1998 while serving as interns in the high school ministry of Southwest Community Church in Indian Wells, CA.  Assad later became the high school pastor in the same church. Assad graduated from Biola University with a Bachelor’s in Organizational Leadership and from Bethel Seminary San Diego with a Master’s of Divinity.

Assad and Summer have served in various ministries over the past 17 years. After serving at Southwest Community Church, Assad joined the staff of Jordan Outreach Ministry (2005) and served the poor and impoverished in the Coachella Valley. There he gained valuable experience in food distribution, kids’ ministry, and large scale events.

In 2006, Assad received an invitation from Emmanuel Faith Community Church to apply for the position of Director of Welcome and Membership Ministries. During his years of service at EFCC, Assad has led events, started multiple ministries, recruited and trained many volunteers, and has written curriculum. Beginning in 2011, Assad and Summer sensed God’s leading and began to pray about the possibility of becoming EFCC’s next church planters. In the spring of 2013, EFCC commissioned them to plant a church in northeast Escondido.

Assad enjoys reading, playing with his kids, writing, and woodworking. Summer enjoys opening up her home, cooking and entertaining. She loves reading, running, meeting new people and spending time with her family. Together they have committed from the day they were married to open their home and share their faith generously.  Church planting provides a wider opportunity for this.

As a family, it is their great desire to take the Gospel to as many people as they can in the northeast area of Escondido. They have undergone extensive testing and, together with their Pastor, Dennis Keating and the elders of their home church, Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido, they are convinced the Lord has this work for them. To that end they will work tirelessly to present every person with an opportunity to respond to the great message that God offers forgiveness for all through His Son.
