10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
These three Kings were brought to their knees….
That would be such an awesome line in the song “We Three Kings”!
In what world would three Kings travel a far, bearing gifts of the highest value only to lay them at the feet of a child? The answer is… our world.
This is a clear indication of who the Child was. He was the Son of God from on high who would bear the weight of the sin of humankind.
The Kings weren’t insecure or envious like King Herod rather as the scripture reads “overjoyed”!
One of the best lines of the Christmas Carol rings true:
“Glorious now behold Him arise,
King and God and Sacrifice.
Sounds through earth and skies”
What a great declaration of hope!
