8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”
9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.
The King wanted to kill baby Jesus.
It seems hard to believe but King Herod was so threatened by the foretold king he began plotting to kill him as soon as he heard from the Magi.
Too many times we can get insecure. Have you ever felt that way? I’m sure seeing the massive star rest over your countryside with men who were considered Kings coming to your doorstep looking for the real king would definitely make me feel a little worried. Plotting to take the life of a baby is just too far.
This is a great reminder to the type of hostility that surrounds the birth of Jesus. These are the kinds of stories that encourage me to be different as a follower of Christ. How can you be different this Christmas Season?
