Matt. 2:1-2

Day 13.jpg

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi[a] from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Have you heard of the Magi?

Historical accounts suggest the Magi were probably men from the East namely Persia.  They studied ancient documents and the stars seeking for “the star” they thought to have traveled from the heavens to the earth.  They believed this event to be the birth of Jesus.  So they traveled a long ways for a long time giving up much in order to find what they considered to be a miraculous event.  The story of the “Magi” is well documented in ancient history.

These men searched the stars for the meaning of life.  It is incredible that their journey can be found in recorded history & that they believed (when in Persia) that meaning and purpose would be found in Bethlehem.  They probably were not anticipating a baby in a manger.

The question that I ask myself is “How far would you travel to meet who you may believe to be the King of heaven and earth?”  This is a great question to ponder on…
